Antique English Mahogany Drum Table
A charming antique mahogany drum table with a leather top. This piece is from England and dates back to 1870.
The drum table features a dark English mahogany that contrasts beautifully with the fittings. Each drawer showcases two handles with an intricate flower pattern and a ring for easy opening. Additionally, each foot has a small decorative covering that references back to the table’s handles. The table’s four legs feature a lined wood design and gracefully swoop out from the body. The top of the drum table showcases leather. The unique patina on the leather creates a beautiful antique look.
Although the entirety of the tabletop’s exterior features what look like other drawers, the drum table contains only one openable drawer. These tables were originally called “rent tables” because the wealthy English landowner would collect his tenants rents each month and put them in every other drawer, as every other drawer is a faux drawer. The history of this drum table adds an additional charm and would surely make for a great conversation starter.
Overall, a wonderful antique table with a great story behind it. This drum table would make a great addition to any home.
