Bauhaus Steel Tube Etagere, Nickel and Black Lacquer, Germany/Czechia, 1930s
A Bauhaus Steel Tube etagere / side table. This piece was designed by Emile Guyot from either Germany or former Czechoslovakia. Although it is not labeled, the piece is most likely manufactured by “Thonet Mundus”. This etagere was made in the 1930s and showcases a signature Art Deco form. This original piece is in excellent restored condition. The etagere is made with newly galvanized nickel-plated steel tubes and screws. There is a new piano black lacquer on the wooden shelves. The three shelves seemingly cascade down the etagere, making for a very elegant piece all together.
