The backrest is adjustable in 5 positions, with original metal stops. This armchair is a predecessor of the famous “Sitzmaschine” by Josef Hofmann.
Upholstered with belts, original springs, individually stuffed, sea grass, horse hair and modern yellow fabric. Although the surface shows traces of an old infestation of woodworms the chair remains in good condition. Recently restored, polished with shellac.
The seat of this Biedermeier Bergère Armchair also shows age-related wear.
