Biedermeier Box, South Germany, circa 1850
Beautiful late Biedermeier decorative box, circa 1850.
The frame is walnut with an ebony veneer top cover and big flower inlays in green-red-yellow toned Fruitwoods.
It also has ebony, maple and plum side inlays.
It has been hand-polished with shellac (French Polish). Ebonized edges
The interior is walnut wood. Old lock does not work, but it could be replaced by a new one.
The box measures Height: 6.3 in. (16 cm), Width: 10.24 in. (26 cm), Depth: 6.7 in. (17 cm).
