Biedermeier Chair, Walnut Veneer, Black Velvet, South Germany, circa 1820
A restored original, neoclassical / early Biedermeier chair with a walnut veneer and black velvet seat cushion. It is from Southern Germany and dates back to 1820.
The chair features a wonderful book-matched vertically and horizontally veneered walnut, hand-polished with shellac. The chair contains a curved back plate and showcases two ebonized convex back sprouts.
The seat cushion is newly upholstered with a black velvet fabric and double keder.
