Biedermeier Half-Cabinet, Cherry Veneer, Full Columns, South Germany circa 1820
A lovely early 19th century Biedermeier half-cabinet, or commode, featuring a cherry veneer and hand polished shellac. The cabinet dates back to 1820.
The half-cabinet contains one oak shelf, one top drawer with a box lock, and and two bottom doors with an inside compartment containing an oak veneer. The commode showcases ebonized solid columns with light wood rings and an ebonized diamond shaped key escutcheon and box lock.
