Biedermeier Walnut Chair, circa 1840
The Biedermeier walnut veneer chair has a shovel-shaped backrest which features inverted extensions, as well as fan shapes in the corners below the curved middle slats. The trapezoidal seat rests on conical front legs and sword-shaped hind legs.
The chair has been re-upholstered with original seagrass and bows, as well as a modern blue fabric. The seat shows age-related wear. The backrest was broken, but it has been professionally restored.
