Cherry Wood Biedermeier Armoire, South Germany, circa 1820
Classicist, early cherry wood Biedermeier armoire from Southern Germany, circa 1820. Bright cherry solid wood with box fillings, wonderful shellac hand-polish. It has little ebonized parts, like the inner edges of the box fillings, the middle bar and party of the cornice and plinth. Ebonized, convex half-columns with chased brass capitals and bases frame the two doors. The armoire has wonderful original brass fittings, key and hinges. It also has an old box lock. Inside, the armoire has 4 inlay plates, covered with black cotton fabric. Able to be dismantled in the middle, for easier transport. Overall a wonderful piece of Biedermeier furniture that is ready for your home.
