Elegant French Art Deco Display Cabinet in Macassar Ebony, circa 1930
This elegant French Art Deco display cabinet from around 1930 is a refined example of early 20th-century craftsmanship. Featuring a narrow, three-sided glazed design, the cabinet is framed in luxurious Macassar ebony veneer on softwood, with a solid mahogany cornice and base. Its striking grain pattern and sleek geometry embody the timeless sophistication of the Art Deco era.
The cabinet retains its original thick glass panes with faceted edges on three sides, offering a luminous showcase for treasured objects. The right-hand pane bears a small crack at the top, which does not affect its structural integrity or function. The back mirror glass, also original, enhances the cabinet’s depth and light reflection, while brass fittings add subtle vintage charm.
Inside, three glass shelves rest on beautifully crafted metal brackets with stoppers at the front—an elegant and practical detail typical of fine 1930s design. Fully restored and hand-polished with shellac, this display cabinet combines authentic period character with renewed luster, making it a statement piece for both classic and modern interiors.
