German Baroque Chest of Drawers, Dresden, circa 1750
This German Baroque chest of drawers dates to circa 1750 and was crafted in Dresden. It features an elegant bombe shape, typical of mid-18th-century Baroque and Rococo furniture. The curved silhouette gives the piece a strong yet graceful presence.
The chest has three drawers. They are veneered in beautifully book-matched walnut, creating a symmetrical and decorative grain pattern. The piece retains its original bronze fittings, which add warmth and historical authenticity.
The surface has been expertly refinished. A traditional hand-applied shellac polish was used. This finish enhances the walnut veneer and brings out a rich, natural sheen. The chest is presented in very good condition.
This antique chest works well as a statement commode, bedroom dresser, or accent piece in a refined interior. Its sculptural form pairs beautifully with both classic and modern settings.
