Antique Bauche Metal Travel Safe
This antique Bauche metal travel safe dates to the Napoleon III period in France and showcases the robust craftsmanship of 19th-century security furniture. Its compact form features studded edges, while the interior retains its original felt lining, preserving the character and authenticity of the piece.
The safe bears the inscription “Incombustible Système Bauche Breveté SGDG Usine à Gueux Marne”, identifying the Bauche system and its French manufacture. It retains its original key and functional lock, while the original letter combination lock is present but non-functional.
Despite its utilitarian purpose, the safe has a distinctive industrial and historical character. Its compact proportions make it an intriguing decorative object for an office, study, library, or collector’s display.
