A rare antique Swedish Mora clock dating to circa 1844, distinguished by its unusual faux wood-grain finish and traditional Kurbits folk art decoration.
The sculptural case features the classic elongated belly of a Swedish Mora clock, a particularly narrow waist embellished with painted swags and scrolls, and a finely detailed pedestal base. An impressive metal clock face with Roman numerals adds to the distinctive character of this example.
The clock retains its original mechanism and pendulum and is sold as a decorative antique, with the movement not guaranteed to be in working order. A professional battery or chiming mechanism can be fitted upon request.
The wooden case displays expected age-related movement, wear, and distressing, contributing to its authentic 19th-century character.
