Antique Sewing Table, Biedermeier Style 1820-30
Cherry veneer with beautiful floral marquetry details in maple and plum wood. The antique sewing table has two drawers, the inside of one of them has several compartments and a flippable pin cushion. Different inlaid motifs decorate the lids of the compartments. In the center is a lithography titled “Der Seidelsche Steinbruch bei Rochlitz” , this is a reference to the quarry in Rochlitz in Saxony (Germany).
We can assume that the table was made in Saxony or was originally ordered by a customer from this area.
This is an exquisite Biedermeier piece. The cabinet maker demonstrates a love for detail.
