Bauhaus Desk by Mücke-Melder, Steel Tubes and Oak Veneer, Czechoslovakia circa 1940
A beautiful Bauhaus desk by Mücke-Melder. The desk is from Fryštát, Czechoslovakia and dates back to 1940. It is in the style of Marcel Breuer’s iconic steel-tube desks. Because of this, Breuer is sometimes referred to as the designer. The desk can be used from both sides, making it available for two people to work at. The desk features a lovely oak veneer on softwood. The wood is paired with a chromed tubular steel frame with an original patina. The left and right side of the desk both have four drawers with ample storage space. There is a lock on the top drawer that has the ability to lock all four drawers below. This Bauhaus desk is in very good condition and the top plate has been recently relacquered.
