Expandable Art Deco Table, Thuja Roots, Lacquered, France, circa 1930
A beautiful expandable Art Deco table from France, circa 1930. This table is perfect as a dining room table. The table’s plate and legs showcase a Thuja roots veneer with an excellent clear lacquer surface. The table has wonderful Lyra-formed legs with two polished steel tubes in-between. A chrome colored metal trim surrounds the bottom of the legs. The table features three leaves / inlay plates, newly made (this is common practice for expandable tables from this age). The inlay plates are 18 in (45.5 cm). They have been ebonized and hand polished with shellac (French Polish). It is possible to put one, two or three inlay plates on the table. Under the fixed Thuja plates, there are black fold-out wood legs (two on each side) for extra stability, if the table is extended. An original metal mechanism hidden under the plates holds the plates. Overall a wonderful piece of Art Deco furniture that is ready for your home.
