Exceptional Italian antique drop front desk dating back to the end of the 19th century.
The Italian antique drop front desk shows influences of Giuseppe Maggiolini. Its exquisite kingwood, rosewood and satinwood marquetry shows the representation of an Italian Renaissance palace interior with figurines on the outside of the writing top.
Additionally, three drawers structure the lower part of the secretaire. Vegetal decorations and hippocampi embellish these drawers. Furthermore, the upper drawer and the sides show the influence of antique grotesque decor.
The inside has 9 small drawers around a central compartment. Antique and Renaissance design has influenced this design vocabulary.
