Louis XVI Mantel Clock, Paris 1780-1800
The antique Louis XVI mantel clock with ormolu-mounted black and white marble comes from Paris and dates back to 1780-1800. It has a white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals which is contained within a drum-shaped case. The case flanked by gilt bronze mounted pilaster set on top of a black marble pedestal base decorated with acanthus leaves, the whole supported on a white marble plinth on toupie feet. The enamel dial is signed “Les Freres Coteau a Paris”. Original sunburst pendulum hanging on string. It rings the hours and half hours on a bell. The clockwork should be cleaned.
