Neoclassical Secretary Desk, Italy 1800
This unique Neoclassical Secretary Desk dates back to the end of the 18th century and was made in Italy. The secretaire has two columns and a gorgeous marquetry decoration on front and sides. In the lower part it has 4 drawers with a central lock. Above them is a writing flap which opens to a beautifully designed compartment with 4 large and eight small drawers, which are also decorated with marquetry decor, and small and large open compartments. The writing surface is also decorated with a pretty tendril design. The marquetry design on the sides show two putti golding a flower medallion. This piece shows influences of the famous Italian furniture designer Giuseppe Maggiolini.

The secretary desk comes refinished and shellac polished. Height: 61.03 in. (155 cm), Width: 38.59 in. (98 cm), Depth: 20.08 in. (51 cm).
