Biedermeier
Originating in 19th-century Germany and Austria as the first furniture style of a burgeoning industrial middle class, Biedermeier rejects the lavish notions of late 18th-century French furniture. Instead, it has a practical, utilitarian core that celebrates simplicity. The natural grain of wood used in veneer and construction plays a major role in the decorative spirit of the style. We offer a wide range of Biedermeier furniture, all of which is ideally compatible with a variety of styles, antique or modern.
