Setsu and Shinobu Ito

The Japanese designers Setsu and Shinobu Ito have a broad work experience in architecture, interior, product, packaging design.

Setsu Ito graduated from the University of Tsukuba, Japan in 1989 and soon after started collaborating with avant-garde designer Alessandro Mendini, and later with the architect Angelo Mangiarotti.

Shinobu Ito graduated from Tama Art University, Japan in 1988 and started her career at CBS Sony. Later, she attained a Master’s Degree at Domus Academy in Milan.

They opened their design studio in Milan in 1997, and have since worked and consulted for international clients, in a wide range of activities in design. 

Awards and Accomplishments

They have received design awards: Good Design award/JP, Compasso d’Oro, Menzione d’Onore/IT. Some projects became permanent collections of Museum of Munich/DE, Triennale di Milano/IT. They are visiting professors of Domus Academy in Milan, Politecnico of Milan, IUAV/IT, Tsukuba University and Tama Art University/JP. Jury of the IF Design Award /DE. Published a biography “Setsu & Shinobu Ito_East-West Designer” Logos/IT.
