Elegant Biedermeier Commode in Cherry Wood, Circa 1820 – Franconia

Discover the timeless beauty of this authentic Biedermeier commode, crafted around 1820 in the Franconia region of Germany. This fine two-drawer commode exemplifies early 19th-century craftsmanship, combining functional elegance with refined simplicity—a hallmark of the Biedermeier era.

Made from cherrywood veneer over softwood and solid cherry, the commode stands on gracefully curved square legs, giving it a light and elevated presence. Rich ebonized accents—including trim, key escutcheons, and elegant half-columns—provide striking contrast against the warm cherry tone.

Detailed with gilded Doric capitals and bases, this chest reflects neoclassical influence typical of the period. Both box locks are original, and the piece comes with one working key.

Meticulously restored and hand-polished with shellac, this commode radiates depth and natural luster while preserving its antique character.
