German Baroque Secretary Desk, Circa 1750
A rare mid-18th century German Baroque secretary desk of straight architectural form, crafted circa 1750. The façade is distinguished by an unusual walnut veneer composition with striking circular inlay motifs and contrasting grain patterns, creating a dynamic yet balanced surface design.
The front features three drawers beneath a slanted writing top. When opened, the interior reveals a structured arrangement of drawers, open compartments, and a concealed secret compartment. The writing surface is finished with green leather, adding both refinement and functionality.
Original Baroque bronze fittings remain intact. The walnut veneer has been professionally refinished using a traditional shellac hand polish, enhancing the depth and warmth of the wood.
A distinctive and character-rich 18th-century statement piece, well suited for curated interiors and design-led projects seeking authentic Baroque craftsmanship.
