Early Biedermeier Chest of Drawers, Southern Germany 1810-20
This early Biedermeier chest of drawers dates back to 1820 and comes from Southern Germany. The three drawer commode features an unpretentious design and stands out for its very pretty walnut veneer. Especially the top has a very unusual veneer grain. The design is still influenced by the earlier Neoclassical Louis XVI period but the use of the beautiful walnut veneer connects this piece with the Biedermeier design vocabulary. The veneer grain speaks for itself and is not additionally decorated with any inlay or marquetry decor.
