Antique Louis XV Style Chest of Drawers with Marble Top
This elegant Louis XV style chest of drawers combines richly figured kingwood wood veneers with fine marquetry and decorative gilt bronze mounts. Its compact proportions and gently shaped façade give the piece a particularly graceful appearance.
The chest features two drawers with beautifully figured kingwood veneer, framed by contrasting lighter wood stringing. Carefully arranged veneer emphasizes the curved drawer fronts and creates a warm, decorative surface. Ornate gilt bronze escutcheons add an elegant finishing touch.
Decorative marquetry also embellishes the sides, where geometric star motifs create an attractive contrast with the surrounding veneer. Gilt bronze mounts accent the front corners, feet and shaped apron.
A richly veined red marble top crowns the chest and follows its gently curved profile. The combination of marble, warm wood tones and gilt bronze gives this small commode a sophisticated French character.
