Spectacular Original Art Deco Bar Sideboard from France, circa 1930
This striking Art Deco bar sideboard or buffet is an exceptional piece of French design from around 1930, blending bold geometry with luxurious finishes. Crafted from rich walnut wood, the piece features a high-gloss black piano lacquer applied in multiple layers, giving it an unmistakable presence.
Two large cast, chased, and chrome-plated appliqués adorn the outer doors—one of a lion, the other a lioness—each signed “BENNES” and measuring approximately 14.17 x 7.08 inches (36 x 18 cm). These eye-catching details exemplify the strength and glamour of the Art Deco period.
The bar sideboard includes two hinged outer doors with compartments for bottles and glassware, framed in a thick polished stainless steel band. The interiors are finished in lacquered ash veneer, offering both beauty and durability.
At the center are two small doors with original bluish glass handles. Behind them sits a beech wood drawer with a chrome handle and inlaid mahogany front, flanked by open compartments and a shelf trimmed with matching inlay.
