Biedermeier Extendable Dining Table in Solid Cherry Wood, circa 1820
This French Biedermeier dining table dates to circa 1820. It features a rectangular top and a practical double-sided extension system. The table is crafted from solid cherry wood and finished with a traditional hand-polished shellac that highlights the natural grain.
Conical, square-tapered legs in solid cherry wood support the table. Each leg features a refined ebony ring detail, typical of early 19th-century Biedermeier furniture. Clean lines and balanced proportions define the design.
The table extends on both sides. Two large extension leaves slide smoothly beneath the main top when not in use. Long solid oak planks support the extension system and provide excellent stability. Each leaf measures approximately 79.5 cmand features a cherry wood frame with a chestnut wood center.
The table has undergone professional restoration and is in excellent condition. It works equally well as a large family dining table or as a statement piece for design projects and hospitality interiors.
