Elegant Biedermeier Center Table, Cherry Veneer, Ebonized, Gold-Leaf, Austria circa 1820
An elegant Biedermeier center table. This oval table is most likely from Vienna, Austria and dates back to around 1820. The table features a cherry veneer and solid wood. The top showcases an inlaid and ebonized (black polished) plate. There is an intermediate tableau with upward tapering partly ebonized and painted decor. The top of the table’s legs showcase four carved eagle heads. The eagle heads have been re-gilded with gold leaf and partially ebonized. The center table is restored and shellac hand polished.
