French Antique Secretary Desk, Louis XVI Period
Exquisite French antique secretary desk, so called secretaire a abattant, Paris 1780.
Kingwood and rosewood veneer decorate the outside of this beautiful piece. The inside is additionally decorated with mahogany veneer.
The Louis XVI secretary desk has its original marble top and the original bronze fittings. Under the marble top on the right side are traces of an old JME stamp, the guild mark of the furniture makers in the 18th century, and a hard to read signature.
