German Baroque Walnut Table, 18th Century
This elegant 18th-century German Baroque table features a richly figured walnut surface with an exceptionally decorative geometric parquetry top. Contrasting walnut veneers create a lively patchwork pattern, framed by a broad veneered border and a subtly raised molded edge.
The table rests on four gracefully curved legs joined to a shaped and scalloped apron. A single central drawer provides discreet storage while preserving the table’s light and balanced proportions. The warm walnut tones and varied grain patterns highlight the quality of the cabinetmaking.
Despite its Baroque origin, the table has a remarkably refined and understated appearance. Its clean proportions and graphic parquetry allow this German Baroque table to work equally well in traditional and contemporary interiors.
Originally conceived as a writing or work table, it can be used today as an antique writing desk, library table, center table, or occasional table.
