Oval Biedermeier Side Table, South Germany circa 1820
This elegant oval Biedermeier side table dates to around 1820 and originates from South Germany—an excellent example of early 19th-century Biedermeier craftsmanship. The tabletop and frame with richly grained, book-matched walnut veneer over softwood, creating a warm, symmetrical surface typical of the period.
The table stands on four gracefully curved, conical, square-tapered legs made of solid walnut. An intermediate shelf, also finished in walnut veneer, enhances both functionality and aesthetic balance.
A single front drawer features a pressed brass key escutcheon and original iron lock, offering discreet storage with authentic historical detailing. The piece has been expertly restored and is finished with a traditional, hand-polished shellac, bringing out the deep luster of the walnut.
Perfect as a side table in a refined living room, an accent piece in a hallway, or even a unique bedside table, this Biedermeier piece is both decorative and functional. Its oval shape and compact size make it ideal for a variety of interior design styles, from classic European to transitional spaces.
