Pair of Biedermeier Walnut Chairs, South German 1820-30
Original pair of antique Biedermeier walnut chairs dating back to around 1820-30. These chairs stand out for a pretty walnut veneer. They have typical so called “Schaufellehnen” (shovel backs). The Schaufellehne (shovel back), also called Ochsenkopf (ox head) was a very popular design for chair backs during the Biedermeier period.

The Biedermeier chairs measure Height: 34.26 in. (87 cm), Width: 17.72 in. (45 cm), Depth: 16.93 in. (43 cm), Seat Height: 19.69 in. (50 cm).
The chairs are in very good condition and have a new upholstery and fabric.
