Small Louis XVI Chest of Drawers in Walnut with Cube Marquetry, Circa 1780
An elegant and finely proportioned Louis XVI chest of drawers from circa 1780, crafted in warm walnut with exquisite inlay work and a beautifully detailed cube marquetry top. Refined yet understated, this petite commode embodies the balanced symmetry and restrained sophistication characteristic of the neoclassical Louis XVI period.
The chest features clean neoclassical lines, elegant proportions, and carefully executed marquetry, showcasing the craftsmanship of late 18th-century cabinetmaking. Its compact scale makes it exceptionally versatile — ideal for use as a bedside chest, entryway commode, accent piece, or small storage cabinet within both classic and contemporary interiors.
Expertly refinished to enhance the richness of the walnut and preserve the beauty of the original inlay work, while maintaining the piece’s authentic character and patina.
