This early Biedermeier commode has a beautiful cherry wood veneer. Additionally, bird’s eye maple veneer frames the cherry wood veneer of the three drawers, and ebonized, wooden escutcheons decorate them.
Historical Background
The early 19th-century Biedermeier style marks the transitional period between Neoclassicism and Romanticism.
The “Biedermeier” society, in general, concentrated on the domestic and (at least in public) the non-political.
As a consequence, the emphasis on home life for the growing middle-class meant a blossoming of furniture design and interior decorating.
Biedermeier furniture derives mostly from the austro-hungarian empire and Germany.
Stylistically, Biedermeier furniture softened the rigidity of the Empire style.
Consequently, the cabinet makers used light, native woods and avoided the use of metal ornamentation.
Throughout the Biedermeier period, clean lines and minimal ornamentation dominated the design.

This Biedermeier commode is in very good refinished condition and is French polished. It measures H 30.32 in. x W 38.59 in. x D 20.08 inches (H 77 cm x W 98 cm x D 51 cm).

Items are typically delivered within 2 weeks of the purchase date.

The items are insured during the shipping process and the shipper’s insurance will cover the cost for any damage which was caused by the shipper during the shipping process.
Local Pickup & Local Delivery
All sales are final once buyer or buyer’s agent takes possession of an item.
Upon inspection, if you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller.
Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final.
