Louis XV Transition Style Dresser, France 19th century
This gorgeous Louis XV Transition style dresser was made in the Mid-19th Century. The chest has an extraordinary flower marquetry. The three drawer commode’s front is structured in different marquetry fields. The upper drawer has a middle field with a flower tendril flanked by two herringbone marquetry fields. The decor of the larger lower drawers has three merging marquetry fields with a central flower bouquet basket and two baluster vases with flowers on the right and left of it. The marquetry work is exquisitely executed. Additionally the chest of drawers is decorated with beautifully chased bronze fittings, sabots and escutcheons. The light colored marble top complements the beauty of this piece.
