Elegant pair of Swedish Gustavian style cabinets, dating to circa 1850 and retaining a beautifully aged grey-white painted finish.
The restrained form is enriched with characteristic Gustavian-inspired carved detailing, including a molded upper edge, decorative carving to the drawer front and door, and tapered pyramidal feet. A single upper drawer provides practical storage, while the lower cabinet door opens to reveal interior shelving.
The softly distressed grey-white paint highlights the carved ornament and gives the piece the understated character associated with 19th-century Swedish painted furniture. Decorative metal knobs provide a subtle period accent.
With its relatively compact proportions, this versatile Swedish commode would work particularly well as a bedside table, nightstand, side cabinet, or occasional storage piece in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
