Early 1800s Swedish Antique Mora Clock
This 210cm antique Swedish Mora clock dates back to the early 1800s. It features carved detail on the hood, a green paint finish, and a hand-painted face with intricate accents. The clock is signed by Ã…man from Arboga on the face, ensuring its authenticity.
Mora clocks originated from the 1700’s to 1800’s from the Darlarna province of Sweden. The village of Mora in this region became associated with the production of Mora clocks.
Dimensions:
- Height: 210 cm, 82.68 in.
The clock shows the natural distressing expected of a piece this age. It has the characteristic wood movement found in similar clocks. We are selling this clock “as is” as a decorative item. It includes the original mechanism and pendulum, but we do not guarantee it will function.
Optional Upgrades for Functionality:
If you’d like the clock to work, we offer a few options:
- Hi-Torque Battery Mechanism (+£250): This modern mechanism keeps time reliably while preserving the vintage charm. Installation takes 2-3 weeks.
- Chiming Mechanism (+£350): This option produces a beautiful chime that plays recorded sounds through a small speaker. It includes volume control and an 8-hour night off switch.
- Clockwork Mechanism Repair: A local clock repair professional can clean, repair, and set up the original mechanism, restoring its functionality.
Important Note:
Wood is a living material. It may shift when moved to a new environment with different temperature and humidity. This can cause minor splits after the clock adjusts to its new home.
