Antique Armchairs of the Biedermeier Period, 1820
This unique pair of antique armchairs dates back to around 1820-30 and comes from the northern part of Germany.
The northern German Biedermeier is stylistically connected to the so called Golden Age in Denmark. The Danish Golden Age is the term for a period of Danish art and cultural life from approx. 1800 to approx. 1850. It shows a slightly different approach than the southern German and Austrian Biedermeier style.
The Scandinavian and northern German style of the first half of the 19th century stays more connected to the Neoclassical designs of the 1800s. The chairs are made of yew, they have a very unusual and unique back design.
