About Malgorzata Karp-Soja
A graduate of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, Malgorzata studied painting in the studio of professor Stanisław Wiśniewski, and drawing in the studio of professor Allan Rzepka.
She was in three times Italy with scholarships. Her works often form complex spatial compositions (polyptychs), often in the form of portals, which are characteristic of her.
Her paintings often resemble stills from a film set, and in some works there are noticeable echoes of fascination with the works of Federico Fellini (as Italians say – they are “molto Felliniano”). She also created a number of works reminiscent of contact prints with the frame of a film or photographic tape.
Additionally, she worked as an assistant director for set design in the production of the film “Szwejk” directed by Włodzimierz Gawroński.
Malgorzata is a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. She presented her works at over 150 individual and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Her works can be found in private and museum collections, e.g. in Poland, Austria, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, USA, Mexico and China.
Her awards and distinctions include the “President Award” at the 7th International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence, the Medal of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of ZPAP, and a distinction at the 5th International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Beijing Future and Reality. In recent years, she has participated at Berlin Art Week, at 3rd Qianjiang International Art Exhibition in Hangzhou, China and “Circus Flow” in Visegrad (Hungary), where she represented Poland after winning an international competition.
