Pair of Swedish Biedermeier Birch Carver Chairs, Late 19th Century
This elegant pair of Swedish Biedermeier carver chairs dates to the late 19th century. Beautifully figured golden birch veneers and graceful proportions give the chairs their distinctive Scandinavian character.
The square backs feature decorative lyre motifs surrounded by richly figured birch veneer. Fan-shaped details further enhance the design and highlight the natural movement of the wood grain. Rounded armrests terminate in sculptural supports with distinctive orb details, while gently curved saber legs complete the elegant silhouette.
The warm golden birch will receive a traditional French polish before shipping. This hand-finished surface enhances the depth and figuring of the veneer and gives the chairs their characteristic honey-colored luster.
Both chairs have fully webbed seats for comfort. They will ship with their existing upholstery, which shows wear and fading. Therefore, we recommend reupholstering them to suit their new interior. Reupholstery in a customer’s own fabric is available for an additional charge.
The chairs will be professionally repolished before shipping. Please allow approximately 18–21 days for this work.
