Small Biedermeier Wardrobe, South Germany 1820-30.
The outside of this unique wardrobe has a beautiful mirrored walnut veneer with ebonized and hand carved details. Behind the two doors are shelves on the left side and two rows of coat racks on the right side.
The main features throughout the Biedermeier period were clean lines and minimal ornamentation. As the period progressed, however, the style moved from the early rebellion against Romantic-era fussiness to increasingly ornate commissions.
