Louis XVI Style
Named for the last King of France before the French Revolution, Louis XVI style marked a departure from the theatrical whimsy of Baroque Rococo. Coinciding with the Englightenment, amidst a re-engagement with the philosophies and practices of the Ancient Greek and Roman world, Louis XVI is a Neoclassical style. That connection shines through in darker woods, right angles, and classical motifs, like integrated columns.
